Date of incident: July 2, 2024
Type of violation: dismissal
Institution: SPbU
Summary: SPbU dismissed Maksim Kulaev, an assistant professor at the Department of Interdisciplinary Synthesis in Social Sciences and Humanities, the university reported in the materials of the rectors’ meetings.
Details: The dismissal followed an appeal from members of the examination committee, among whom was an Orthodox priest. They complained that Kulaev, in an email correspondence with them, “made statements about them that contained insults, degraded their personal dignity and damaged their professional reputation.” In addition, the university discovered that Kulaev had placed campaign posters in the building where the commission meeting was scheduled, “the content of which insulted the religious feelings of the commission members and degraded their personal dignity,” RBK reports.
